Humidity for casings, and casing a cake with hyphal knots?
    #3083447 - 09/02/04 05:33 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Quick newb question (first casing ever, with straight verm): do casings need the same level of humidity as cakes? Like, do they need to be put in something (foil baking pans), and then in a humidity chamber with perlite at the bottom (or something equivalent, but perlite is easiest).

Also, is it too late to case pf cakes that have hyphal knots, but no pins? AFAIK they need to be cased when colonized but before they begin to show signs of pinning?

don't worry about perlite with casings, they make their own humidity. just mist the surface every day or two or when it looks dry.
