    #3082723 - 09/02/04 02:50 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

so i checked my jars today (full pints) and they are beginning to colonize. ive decided i want to do these invitro style. I havent flipped the jarsa upside down, and they are in a dark, warm place with no light. anything i need to change or do i just sit back and wait?

Anymore info on inducing invitro pinning? I'm also interested. I have no more fruiting space but I have drawers that I can empty out

Cambodian is apparently a good strain for it (according to MushMush).

I have never done it, but it would seem you'd want some extra room in all the jars when you're putting in your substrate. And obviously you want wide mouth jars, otherwise harvesting is a biotch/impossible.

Don't know how you went about making your pints, but if they are full PF style pints I know this...
Try to keep the sides covered from the light or they will grow into the verm and get it all over themselves(hard to clean off).
Also, a drop in temperature never hurt pinning.

I have done invetro several times. Here is the best tip I can give you CandyKid

Leave the jars in complete darkness. Checkthem with the dimest possiable light. And bee very qiuck about it. NO LIGHT

When the jars a 100% colinized. Hide them in the dark again and don't check them for 7 days. 7 DAYS !!! Very Important.

Then birth them and put them on a plate cover with saran wrap in the fridge over night. Next day put them back in jars. Leave e'm upside down.

The fresh air and cold combined with the light gets e'm ready for a massive pin set. At this point I put them on top of the kitchen cabinets. 72-75 degs.

There is alot of info here at the shroomery fact section. But these added things seemed to make a big difference.

Interesting. Whenever I grow invitro, I expose them to 12 or so hours of light a day from the very start. When they are fully colonized, I remove the vermiculite on the bottom.

But, your method sounds pretty cool too Fucknuckle.. I might have to try it like that next time I grow some mushrooms.
