A Response to Shirleyt Knott's Shroom I.D Picture

Sent this photo to a well known and highly respected mycologist who ask that his name remain anonymous.

Here is his reply to the above photos.

You realize that identifying mushrooms from photographs is next to impossible, especially since descriptions and info re habitat, etc, are lacking.
I?ll give it a try anyhow, but, mind you, the names given are just an educated guess!

-1 - Agaricus sp., probably belonging to the section Arvenses

-2- Psathyrella sp.

- 3 - Marasmius cf curreyi

-4- Lycoperdon pyriforme (sure looks like it)

-5- Psilocybe sp.?

-6- Mycena sp. ?

-7- ???

-8- No gills visible, so impossible to tell if it is a Cortinarius sp. Other possibility : Psathyrella lacrymabunda

-9- Small Hypholoma sp.?

-10- Young, even embryonal specimens, not yet possessing recognisable characteristics.
Not clear whether it even has gills. Could it be primordia of tropical Macrolepiota?

-11- Agrocybe sp.?

-12- Ascomycete. A brownish Peziza?

-13- In all probability : Collybia confluens

-14- Some dark mass belonging to the Aphyllophorales

-15 - Boletus cf chrysenteron var. rubellus

-16- Could well be a simple Marasmius oreades

-17- ???

-18 - Tricholoma or Lepista sp.

mj and have a shroomy day. Hope this answers your question
