I was taking pix of these giant blobs on my cake and I noticed this ugly spot near the bottom of the cake.

Is this contaminated?

It looks slightly contaminated to me, esp. the blotchiness on the left and the dot to the right to the right of the stem on the right (vague, I know...). Wait for some people better versed in contams though. I'd try looking into the salting method I've seen on the board recently, you may end up with a better result.

Yeap, i agree with ZeroArmy27, it looks slightly contaminated.
Try scooping out that portion with a sterile knife or spoon very carefully and then apply some h2o2 soaked verm. The salting method should be even safer after scooping, the problem is you'll probably have to flip or lay down the cake.
Toss it if it grows back.
Pay attention to the extent of the contamination. If it's growing on the very inside of the cake you should toss it. Treat it only if it looks superficial.
