hi these mushrooms sprung up overnight, cant get enough 'proper' info on there origins, safety etc. as much info as possible appreciated

As far as the ID goes, they appear to be Giant Puffballs. I really have NO clue how to ID puffballs, perhaps ToxicMan can give us some tips.

Those are giant puffballs, I believe they are great edibles, I never ate it though. The latin is Calvatia gigantea.

If they are smooth in texture (no speckles), they are a "choice edible."

"When they are white within, they are an excellant edible mushroom that can be sauteed or batter fried."
