I have a mesh bag i take to the field, it distrubutes spores through the bag as I walk around hunting cubes. Ever notice the spores in the bottom of the bag when u come back from a field trip? Id try that apple trick, but my field already has more than i could possibly use.

This is a good idea. I will try as I have one old cow he live next to my home. Can I just dry the mushroom and his spore will fall out to the paper? How can I make the mushroom drop his spore?

yeah to get a spore print one a piece of paper just set a fresh cap on it and let it dry for about 2 days without touching it too much, you odnt need a fan or anything just set it in a warm, dry, sunlit spot and it will have a neat little design in spores left.
and that mesh bag sounds cool but usually the shrooms i get are dripping wet and the bag will up with purple juice before the end of the field trip, i like the idea but i like that purple juice too =)

seeing as how I live in the pacific NW, cubes don't grow wild here.... BUT, libertycaps DO.. what are the odds of this working with libertycaps, if it works at all. MJ always has great libetycap information, maybe he would know.
MJ, Would this work?

I might have to give this a try. Wonder if it would work with horses and rabbits? The Panaeolus species might do better with these critters, than the cubes. It sure couldn't hurt to give it a shot, I guess.

technically i think i would work with any spores as long as they don't get too hot or anything, all they need to do is get in the cows belly. =) that multi-chambered belly.... yes =)

Why not just feed spawn to the cow or horse?
I'm not implying that any of this BS would actually work
But suppose it did, lets pretend we spawned the animals feed... what do you think about that?! :P

feeding spores on apple slices to cows does work dude, come to santa fe tx and look at the field on casey-beaver road =) there are jmore shrooms therein just a 250acre field than any of the fields around with 1,000's of acres. and like i said i haven't ever seen anything but p. cubensis out there.

That is some pretty wild stuff! I live in the PACNORTH and thus cant hunt any cubies. As for a similar method working for Liberty Caps, it wouldnt because they dont grow from cow shit so having a cow eat the spores would accomplish nothing. Liberty caps attach themselves to the roots or grasses and only pop up their heads after a few months of mycelial (sp) growth, this usually happens (weather permiting) at the very end of Sept.
I have found recently that rock climbing is almost as much fun as hunting psilo's...
