And how did you choose it?
I am just finishing up my pre-nursing school, then I will move into the real thing. I guess. *sigh* It's not really my passion, but nursing is a good job, and really flexible. I could pretty much get a job anywhere as a nurse, or I could specialize in something really neato like psychiatric nursing, and help someone like Rick Strausmann who did the recent major DMT studies. That would be pretty cool I think.
I've also thought very seriously about teaching Ashtanga yoga, or becoming a Waldorf teacher, or a psychiatrist. How do you know what you want to be?

Right now? Working on a degree in criminal justice. Long term goal, law degree. In between, probably working in the courts or maybe as a para-legal. All very long term kind of goals, I may find other interests as I take more and more classes. Law really interests me however and I've got a family full of lawyers.

I'm currently going to college as a psychology major and hope to either be a psychatrist or psychologist. Haven't decided how far I want to go, and if I can accomplish the work (I tend to have bad homeworks habits.... speaking of which....)

To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

I make every effort to take every day as it comes and not concern myself with what may be down the line (within reason, of course). Just trying to ensure my current position is stable and that my monetary reserves never fall too low.
Went to UC Santa Barbara for a year, didn't know what I wanted to do.. transferred to UC Santa Cruz and tried Psychology for a year, while interesting, a degree wouldn't have helped me much as I believe I wouldn't want to persue jobs in that field. Then in my third year I started to really emphasize on business.
Have been running my own businesses since I was 13 and started up a web-host reselling operation with three of my jr. high/high school buddies. That was a great experience and definitely gave me the desire to be my own boss regardless of which specific path I may choose.
I suppose that's why I don't choose a sepcific path but rather involve myself in entreprenurial activities of various genre. Currently I'm on Leave of Absence status from the UC system. UC Santa Cruz' business program was essentially devoted to preparing students to enter the corporate world and work for a major firm, something I definitely did not want... so I'm taking this time to start up my own business partnering with a major speaker OEM here in California and selling my own subwoofers while looking for some real estate investments on the side. I'll go back to school someday, but like I said - one day at a time

I work to protect Air Quality. It's rewarding, because just about everyone appreciates clean air. I didn't exactly choose the field. I started out working in the woods (the Sierra Nevada), got into general environmental protection in the Central Valley of California, and ended up specialized in Air Quality Management on the North Coast.
It's kind of "strange" that spores are technically considered air pollution (Particulate Matter, a federal criteria pollutant), yet they are essentially sacred seeds.
For me, being of service to Gaia is very important, so I'm quite content with my career.
Peace,

My true interest is in Physics and Astronomy....but when I take a more pragmatic look at my options i realize Biology or Chemistry are much more feasible for a non-genius like myself... So right now im an under-grad geared for a cell biology degree...

Working on my MSci in chemistry at the moment. Only three more years. I'll maybe do a PhD after that, and then, see where the wind takes me. I'm still trying to figure out a way to avoid getting a job, that won't get me in prison.
Maybe start a cactus farm in Spain and make my riches from selling peyote . We've got 20 acres out there, and a little house being built for when my parents retire...

Im going into pharmacology / pharmaceutical chemistry. And sub a pharmacist is one of the most boring jobs you could have. You basically sit around, count pills, answer inane questions, and occasionally mix drugs. But it is great fucking pay for doing so little. There is also a shortage of pharmacists. I encourage you go into the profession. edit: who knew those guys counting pills at pharm stores usually make a base sallary of 70k+. But they do tend to work hellish hours as well.
