getting rid of cobweb?
    #3077674 - 09/01/04 10:53 AM (19 years, 6 months ago)

a friend of mine is pretty sure he has cobweb on one of his casings. should he spray the entire case with H2O2 to be sure he kills it all,or just spray the affected areas?

it's virtualy impossible to kill cobweb, if its a small patch, quarter sized, he can try full strength 3% h2o2 but its still pretty slim. once its visible it's usualy got a pretty good foothold

Peroxide rarely kills anything except spores. Your best bet(AFAIK) is to spray with peroxide to kill any spores then remove the contaminated section.

I think you have that backwards... h2o2 frequently will kill spores but not mycelium

A baking soda solution is what the commercial mushroom industry uses to control cobweb

I've seen pictures of where people have tried to cut out the affected area to save their casing.
