Here's the Knoppix bittorent tracker: http://torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de I'm downloading it for a friend now - 200+ seeders as mushmaster said, its a good intro to linux w/o having to fuck with partitions or getting rid of windows right away. just burn the .iso onto disc & boot from it.

im posting from knoppix that I burned for this dude - this is real sweet - didnt get a chance to really play with this last time - I recommend it I'll probably burn me an extra copy for when I have to go to the computer lab at my school. I'm looking at http://www.damnsmalllinux.org & that would be fucking sweet - might have to dl that & find a blank business card cd-r.

Thanks for the torrent. I'm a little confused on how to burn the bootable disc. Can I simply extract the .rar archive into another folder, and burn the entire contents of that folder onto a CD? EDIT: bi0, you might find this interesting. I found this at the bluetack forums regarding protowall and linux. clicky

Check out Beep-media-player Its a fork of xmms and its much cooler imo. Not as many plugins yet, but it is gtk 2 and it looks cooler. Though there is one bug remaining that keeps it from being perfect imo

just burn the .iso image with your burning program. I use nero. the files I downloaded werent in .rar - just the .iso & .md5 & .asc (which are check-files I believe - dont worry about those - just burn the image).

so, after engaging in this thread, I realized my reasons to clinging onto Windows were quite lame. I am now dedicated to switching over to linux - in the next week or so, I should be M$ free.
cheers everyone!

Libranet - it's based on debian. I like debian for its GNU ethos and [reported] stability as well as apt-get but I had trouble installing it - I have alot to learn. But until then, I'll be using libranet. I was able to install it very quickly and everything is working out. Now, I'm just in the process of [hopefully] getting these damn ATI linux drivers to work so I can play UT2004. I've used Suse & Mandrake before, but I wasnt very pleased.
