Humidification problems

Hey I'm trying to figure out a humidification system for my first attempt at cultivating. One of the biggest problems is what system i should use. Here are a few questions I have about each method, feel free to throw in you opinions and comments bout your first setups.
How often do you need to change perlite and add water to it?
If you use a cool mist humidifier how would you then keep the temperature in the target zone?
How often do need to run ultra sonic humidifier, and can you alter the temperature with them?
And for you Australians where do you get your humidifiers from?
thanks

Welcome to the shroomery
While answering your questons poses no problem. The lack of effort on your part might
And by effort I mean try reading in the fact section here.
Perlite only needs to be changed if it gets all dirty and funky. It can be resterlized in the oven at 300 degs for a hour or so.
Temp control can be done in a number of ways but, reg room temps are usally ok for fruiting 70-77 degs range. You need at least a 10 deg drop from incubation to fruitng area.
I don't use an ultra sonic humdifier so I dont know
I never been to Down Under but I sure would like to someday!!!
Your country is fuckin beautiful

Welcome Doc! Two things to take into consideration. #1 ultrasonics will not exchange air and #2 coolmist will exchange large volumes of air to the point where RH is actually lowered to 80-85%. Now a combination of these is one of the best systems out there but either one can be used alone with either and additional misting or fanning GL Doc

How do you figure that an ultrasonic won't exchange the air?
Putting a coolmist inside your chamber works well, that way you can get a high RH from a coolmist.

a better question would be how do you figure it will.

Hmmm.... Well it sucks in air at the bottom or side and outputs air at the top. That's airflow, hence air exchange.

No, I was thinking of the standard walmart type. Vicks or holmes, etc. That ultrasonic looks like major overkill. Most people have problems with too much humidity with ultrasonics, let alone using one with 5 transducers.

Ok FF you have all the answers eh? Ultrasonics work on a whole different principle air exchange is minimal and cannot be counted on for air exchange. WORD And BTW Foggers rule the hell out of everything else if ya know what your doing as far as setting it up. Homer2's rule!!!!

In a normal ultrasonic there is a fan in the base which blows air through the unit. It's a pretty decent stream of air and it's more than enough to excahnge the air.
So, no air exchange is not minimal. It's less than a cool mist, but if you have ever even seen a regular ultrasonic unit running you will know that it's plenty of air.
There might be a problem with too much humidity if you run the ultrasonic too long in order to circulate the air, but there are ways to reduce the mist output or increase the fan speed.

thank you all for your input it has helped me quite a bit. I did read the fact section but I always like to get as many opinions as possible but I do admit I could have spent some more time on it. Thanks for the good advice.
