I'm sure this is a fairly redundant question. I searched but not as hard as I should have, so a simple ansnwer to a simple question is all I ask. Can i mix spawn from different strains of cubes? EQ+LY+BM+KS=????

Thank You! 5 shrooms! Unfortunately the substrate was cased in cups with sandwich bags on 'em. I told my friend don't do it and sure enough they were moved around and are now all mixed up in their own containers. I'm still unsure if I should fix them which would be a little impractical with my schedule and privacy right now, or put 'em outside. If the myc's won't synergize and become one I'm thinking maybe using a long pot for window sills. I will try and put each cups' content as separate as possible. The only thing is there are a lot of cups! I'm going to have to share.

I've never tried what you describe... But I wouldn't think it would be much of a problem. I would just procede as usual. The only danger is getting slightly smaller shrooms... Not a big problem.

Rubbermaid with hay at bottom, then the spawn from the cups kept intact. There are no drainage holes nor is there much water, the hay was dipped not soaked. Unless it is suggested otherwise I am leaving this the way it is with a cover outdoors. If anyone thinks there is a contam issue or the spawn should be covered more let me know. I am going to mist/air daily. Right now there is a sick ass hurricane coming and I hope this shit doesn't get ruined!

chopping and pastuerizing the hay would probably have been a better idea, then crumble the cakes and mix the pieces in well, I've also found that it worked best when it was all packed pretty well...

I've heard that hay won't work very well and that straw is better. I've never used either, except for a little straw casing one time.
Can anyone clear this up?

The idea here is to basically fruit "cakes" in a reservoir of nutrients. Since there are 4 different strains i don't want to mix them up. Also I'm looking for suggestions for what to do with this thing since a category 4 maybe 5 hurricane is coming my way. Can this be kept indoors even though it was handled with "outdoor" sterility precautions? Should I seran wrap it, store it indoors and take it outside daily for airing and misting? I'm thinking about using an air pump going into a jar with an air stone, then a clorox wipe, and then another tube comes out of the jar lid. Any ideas?

the mycelium will colonize a portion or all of the straw and draw water from it, as for the current setup, an air stone will help with gas exchange but I personaly would bring it inside, cover ti with plastic and hope it's fruiting when I return

Well for privacy purposes i may bring it in today even though the hurricane is coming friday. Do you think that daily fanning and misting outside will be enough? That's essentially what I am going to do but I'd like to hear people out on this one. It seems like such a waste to leave too much up to chance, and this is pretty sketchy as is.

mushrooms want to produce fruit... neglect them and they will fruit (not as prolific or as nice) I'll look around for some of my old photos, I really have punished them and still had good results

Well after this thing passes I'll post an update. Prisoner, do you think they should just be left all wrapped up or should they be fanned. I'm sure something will come out of this but I feel like this is Myc abuse.
