hello guys! a few days ago i planted in my backyard (using Moe's outdoor tek) a casing that had already give me 3 flushes and now a few days later (after every day watering) i saw a shroom growing!! Cool ! But this shroom.... is NOT like the shrooms that the casing produces inside!!! It doesnt even look like a cube to me!!! How can it be so different?!?!
here are the shrooms that grew outdoors:

and here are the same shrooms which grew indoors:

They loook like they had very little humidity or moisture. The mushies cannot grow smoothly without moisture. Maybe get something lie perlite or better yet vermiculite and get it wet then put a lil layer over the area. Put a build up of verm around the area too-- hopefully this will help keep some more moisture.

Also make sure they are getting shade, because if they are in the sun all day that can dry em out.

Well I'm no myco expert but I've grown outdoors and it looks like that. It is basically from low humidity, they are still good, just funny lookin'. Then again if thats what shrooms do in bad conditions and they are getting the right humidity and not too much light/heat, it could be something else. I've had green shit grow on overwatered outdoor pots before.

Cmon, use your senses: Compare it with the cubensis you already know about.

1) Does it bruise blue?
2) Does it have a veil?
3) Is the sporeprint purple-brown?
4) Does it smell like a cubensis?

If you answered "yes" to all those questions then you just might have a cubensis.

Unfortuently, by just looking at it, I can say its probably not. The main reason is that Psilocybe cubensis will not split like that on the cap. It looks almost like an Agaricus.

I thought you were asking that...

Well, there are a few reasons... I mean, you'd think it would be a cubensis. If it has cubensis traights listed above, then you have one.

One: You were watering a compost pile (or whatever it is), and it sparked growth of other mushroom spores that were in there.
Two: The presence of a nice moist nutrient base gave something for some airborne spores to come along and germinate on.

It very well could be a cubensis, but, I just haven't seen any wild cube's split that much like one one in your picture.

They sure look like cubies to me! quick sporeprint will verify this for sure as well as bluing as already suggested. IME I'd say almost 100% those are cubies and 100% one is for sure.

Scaling is the natural reaction of the mushroom cap to dry air.
