Problems with my CD-R drive
    #3032622 - 08/21/04 01:08 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

A while back my my cd-r drive simply stopped working. The light at the front that usually flashes green when the drive is active is now yellow and my computer won't read it as there. Anyone ever seen this before or know anyway to remedy the situation.

Nobody will ever start another thread on this board, as long as the thread count is 1337...

I'd do it, but i just don't have that level of leetitude that i'd need to survive the shock wave from the lett-blast it would generate...

apologies to hooty for jacking the thread...

Have you checked to see if the IDE are connected properly? I guess you could also try reinstalling any drivers you may need. That's not guaranteed to solve anything but it can't hurt.

Reinstall drivers, check the IDE cable (maybe even switch it with another one), if you're not seeing any lights, or hearing any noise from it whatsoever, check the power cables as well... if that doesn't work... reset your motherboard's BIOS (long shot). Try installing it in another PC, if it still doesn't work, it's dead. Get another one. If it works... try installing it back in your pc, and if it still doesn't work, you've likely got a problem with your motherboard.

I'm pretty sure that anything higher than Windows 95 takes care of that for you...
