Popcorn Jars and white goo

I did popcorn/Grain for the first time last week. Well, it's been a week. The day after I inculated there where a few little puddles at the bottom. And since then it's kinda formed like white puddles at the bottom, I shook them thinking it was myc, but I think it is residue from the corn.
So, has anyone else had a problem like this, or is this normal? What did I do...should I put corn on a paper towel next time?
I'm almost having to go back to another round of cakes so I can have some more around. Not a bad thing. It is fun messing with cakes...I guess I won't be saying that after I get grains and the casings working.
Are casings made with PF cakes still ok?

I was thinking maybe a bacterial contam, but it might be starchy runoff from the grains. How did you prep the grains?

first off, contamed or not, i would trash the jars, as the extra moisture will more then likely contam later, if not sooner ..secondly i would take a CLEAN bathtowel and hand dry the corn AFTER you let it sit in the strainer..then pc it...... Quote:

Thanks for the reply everyone. I thought it might have been too wet. It was about 11:30 pm when I started PCing and I was tired. I knew I rushed it, but took the chance. So, you suggest newspaper on top or carboard?...would paper towels on top of C-board work? I'm supersticous about the newspaper... EDIT: Oh yeah. i preped the grains as normal. Hm. 24 hours soak. Then a boil to simmer for about45-60 mins. THen drain and PC. One added note, That time I used PF jar lids that I had in the past. THey had the four holes and i ust filled them with poly fil. I will go with the on big hole with polyfil next time.

can you put a little verm in the bottom of the jars before you pc to soak up excess water? cause i was thinking of doing popcorn myself in a month or so. edit: nm it would make a mess when you shook it.
