Taz and B+? Help Plz.(w/ rye flour)
#3074390 - 08/31/04 03:01 PM (20 years, 4 months ago) |

Afoaf innoculated 3 B+ and 3 Taz pf jars(w/rye flour) about 4 1/2 days ago. 1 b+ jar has growth about the size of a silver dolar on one side and the other 2 B+'s have about one quarter size piece of growth on each. But none of the 3 Taz's have any myc yet. The B+ syringe had more spores in it also. So should he be worried about the Taz's or are they just slower? he's a newb. Probably should just wait another 6 days or so. Also no standing water on the sides or bottom and no contams yet so thats good.

ok 5 1/2 days now and now growth on the Taz's still but also no contams. the B+ are still spreading, but all 3 of them are only growing on one of four innoculation points? so now i'm guessing that either the spores in the taz are bad or their just slower than B+. hope its that second one.

ok thanks that puts afoaf's mind at rest a little. how many of you have jars only start colonizing on one side?

no he did shake them up. i'm convinced that the more spores there are the faster it germinates cause the one that showed myc first had spore chunks visible on the out side of the jar. it actually clogged up the syringe for a second. So i'm think that maybe the places that are colonizing right now are the ones that got the most spores and that the other innoc. points will show growth in a few days hopefully. btw there was a little air in the syringe but the spores wouldn't break up when i shook it, but there should still be thousands floating in clear fluid right?

probably. the B+ syringe was the one with the solid clumps. the taz had a couple of very small(pinhead size) clumps showing. at thehawkseye.com it says that taz is an extremely fast grower? i didn't get my syringes from there(got them from another shroomery sponsor) but maybe after they germinate they'll start growing fast and the B+ aren't faster growers just faster germinaters?

i tried taz and cambo my first time but ended up having too much water in the jars... the taz never even germinated in 2 weeks, about half the cambos started colonizing ~1.5 weeks then contamed at ~2.2 weeks so i threw the whole batch out and started over

that sucks. afoaf is lucky enough to have seen myc growing in one jar just short of 3 days after innoculation without a incubator and its still going now at about 5 1/2 after innoculatoin. just waiting for those damn taz's to start doing their thing. He also has a full syringe of cambo he will use after he births which ever cakes(if any) fully colonize. that way after he gets hopefully at least 2 flushs the cambos will be ready to birth soon after. Though he would be happy with even one flush off one cake this being his first time. he hasn't ever taken them either and neither have i . so it will be more exciting to take them rather than grow them cause it will be a new experience.

My advice is to stick with the tassies and chuck out the B+ - they are a shit strain by every measure. Tassies are quick and usually potent with bigger flushes than other strains - more often better isolates

well i have a feeling if they fully colonize i will keep all of them, but its nice to know that the taz's are potent and have good flushes.

I think we should come up with some way to figure this stuff out!
We would need a standardized survey and a bunch of criteria for judging strains/trips. Trips would also have to be standardized as far as ammount and tolerance issues.
Or do you think there is enough experience already, and just a survey would work?

I dont know how tricky they are but I've found orissas to be some of the slowest and they started showing signs of growth in 4 days or so.
I'm starting to rethink the whole clear syringe thing the more I look at the results

I also disagree on B+ being a shit strain. I had one of my most visual trips ever, almost as much so as 5 hits of blotter I got from the Bonnaroo festival here in TN. B+ is a really good cubs strain. I'm actually growing some B+ right now. I have one jar where only one side has started growing, it's the only one left out of my first batch this past week due to contams. It's an experimental jar, perlite and BRF, but I also have 8 other jars I finished tonight, 4 rye, 4 PF Tek style. I'm going to case both and compare the results.

someone bought many syringes from a vendor they looked very clear except 2 one being B+ had a hard clump that would never fully break up.the clear one never grew anything, used 3cc per half pint ,the syringe with clumps grew but real slow to start. after 3&ahalf weeks it was birthed unfully colonized small part cut off then it did fruit this person took a print then threw the weak plant away , with the new syringe and a old syringe they did jars half&half the new took off the original barely grew so most vendors suck so make a real print asap

yeah my foaf didnt get shit to start from spore101 syringe... He didnt want to say anything but this sort of confirms it for him. His eq did really well, all but 1 jar started, but his others havent started at all and they are very clear. He has always had good luck with other means and I think he is gonna start making his own...

Well the only thing I can add to this is you as the buyer M U S T contact the spore vendor. Its as simple as that. Because of the nature of the business vendors are'nt out to "screw" anyone, but they want there customers happy. Word of mouth travels, and fast, so my suggestion would be to A L W A Y S tell the vendor first.
If they refuse to make it right, then I'd tell as many people who would listen to stay away. With the overwhelming # of vendors NO one wants a negative word a mouth.
I have some stories I C O U L D tell but the bottom line is the vendor has always made it right. If he ever stopped then it would be my last order from them G U A R A N T E E D:)
(just my 2 1/2 cents)

one taz jar show some myc after 11 days and its been 14 now and the myc is maybe quarter size. so they are just really crappy spores. the b+ are doing great though and still no contams so he's happy with his sterilization procedures, which consists of a pc, a lighter, and lysol lol.

ok so he's got 3 b+ jars growing from 1 inoculation and 1 taz jar growing from 2 inoculation points. Its been 22 days and if all inoculation points had germinated 1 jar would have been done and 2 jars would be 90% and 95% done, but in stead one is 50% done and the other 2 b+ are about 40% done. the taz is about 20%. so i guess within another 3 weeks all 3 b+ jars should be done. wow a month and a half. damn his spores to hell. well at least they are growing and no contams in the ones that are growing so that much he's happy about. its just he's having to wait twice as long as he expected.
