Sometime in the near future, about a dozen people I know, ranging from experienced trippers to people who have never done it before, are going to all trip together on an eighth of mushrooms each. Has anyone had experience with a large group tripping together like this? What sorts of things should we bear in mind or plan for or look out for? I'm really looking forward to it, but I'm also not sure what to expect.

I wouldn't want to be surrounded by a bunch of tripping folks... especially if I was tripping. I can't seem to handle large crowds when I'm on mushrooms.

Is their going to be a sober person? Because if one of the first timers freaks out the experianced people might be really caught up in a trip to notice how bad it is for them. I know a few people will see bad stuff and be scared to relly explain what their seeing because their scared the monsters might come harder if hey think about them or talk about them.

I've had a bad experience with a large group. When something goes wrong with one person, other trippers can't help but want to make them feel well, but at the same time you can't hold someones grip of reality without your own. You might focus on them, and lose track of yourself, and find yourself worse off than you remember. Or sometimes someone whos tripping won't accept the advice from someone whos not in a sober state of mind.
And sometimes, people can be so far off in their own mind, having a great time, that they won't notice when someone is freaking out. Or, if they notice, they won't be able to understand.
Anyway, have a sober person, and make sure theres room to be alone (one or two people) without background distraction. Pretty much the only way I've had it work very very well is when the large group sort of broke into pairs, I guess you could say. We were all in the same area, at a garden. But, it just so happened that we all were with only one other person (no sober people, doh). It was great until we started wandering the streets... on halloween.. doh, doh, doh.
I did my fair share of freaking out.. but I learned alot as well.

the last 2 posts pretty much summed it up. have at least one sober person there, maybe even two. ive tripped in large groups quite a few times, most of them working out pretty will with little to no freaking out. but on the times where someone was freaking out really bad, it was hard for the group to help out, cuz we in turn were also tripping. i remember one time where the person who was having a bad trip actually caused 2 others to freak out as well. i have always been pretty good at talking people out of a bad trip, but sometimes there is just too much going on for the tripper to understand. a sober person in these types of situations are key...

massive confusion could ensue, thats what has always dominated my attempts at social interaction with large groups of trippers... confusion.
One one one communication while tripping, well thats a different story, approaching the 'telepathic' end of the communication spectrum
