Hello, can anyone recommend a good, precise, affordable hygrometer - preferably one that has a thermometer as well?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Dry/wet bulb hygrometers are the most accurate ones for the price hands down. PSYCHROMETRIC PSYCHROMETER The Best I've seen inaccurate digi's, I've never seen an inaccurate psychrometer NEVER! GL I have two one of the best investments I've made in this hobby!

I bought an analog one at Wal-mart for 8$ Canadian. If you are on a tight budget I would recommend it. It has a temperature and humidty on the same device.

Why? they're hygrometers are not in the least accurate and temps can be off a couple of degrees also. IMHO there one of the biggest wastes of money a newbie can make your much better off using a thermometer placed on a jar in the incubator for temp and perlite humidification and misting and forget the hygrometer ya actually don't really need it if ya follow the proper teks GL and Welcome Darcho

Iv'e actually found my radio shmuk hygro/thermo to be pretty accurate to within +/- 1C as compared to a thermal probe I have on my multimiter.
Also, its nice since it displays 2 temps (1 probe is in the unit, and one is external probe) and it also saves high/low temps and RHs. This is nice since it tells you how cold and hot your incubator or fruiting chamber gets throught the day when you are not there, then you can adjust the temps accordingly.

Sounds like some nice features alright just remember hygrometers become inaccurate at high RH levels and a psychrometer is accurate and also used to calibrate hygrometers. Sure they say they're accurate to +/- and thermometers are accurate but hygrometers are a different animal. I've spent the money on a $50 Taylor and a $100 hygrometer having to calibrate them and eventually throw them because they would no longer stay calibrated then I was introduced to the psychrometer, for me it just reinforces that my settings/timers are correct. Whatever works right? Agreed
