average lifetime of fruiting body ?

how fast does the fungus hit its peak height, and start to decompose.
also what does mycellae look like before the fruiting bodies appear. like how do you find it in soil/dung. sorry for all of the questions and i appreciate any feedback. but i could not find any of this in the faq

Depends on the weather. Temperature, moisture, presence of molds etc. It also depends on the species. Some fruitbodies don't survive their second day, others survive over several years.

mycelium
Mycelium typically forms pinheads (primordia) where it is about to fruit. This is something you won't very likely be able to see on mycelium growing in the wild. It's something you look for when growing mushrooms yourself in controlled conditions.
