First off all info about the setup can be found in my previous posts. I got the tub volume and dimensions somewhere in there.
Now on my expenses I dont really know. I bought the smaller tub for my incubator, my water heater for it, the big tub, straw. Alot of the other stuff I already had. I would say I spent 50-60 bucks.
CChem: Yeah I know, my pin set wasnt to awsome (prolly my fault) and I didnt let the caps open up more. On this next flush I am gonna wait till some spores drop so I can get some nice prints. Also speaking of next flush I already got new pins showing :P
I should have dry weight by monday. They are sitting with some damprid right now
I need to find a better way of dunking my huge ass block. The only way I could get it to sink was to put 2 bricks on it and then on top of that I filled my incubator with water and sat it on the bricks. This put a shit ton of pressure on the two spots where the bricks were. 1 of the spots has a nice indent and the other spot recovered. Any ideas on how I can do this next time. I also didnt poke the holes in my block to allow water to soak in through the holes. I might do it next dunk, I might not we will see.
Until next time

As far as dunking I would would use something like an oven rack or some sort of grill thing like that. You can find smaller racks in most stores that carry cooking supplies. Perhaps lay a piece of clean plastic on top of the straw, lay the grill on that, and then place a tub filled with bricks on top of the grill. This way the weight is evenly distributed, you dont get wet bricks, and the plastic protects the mycellium from gettin damaged too badly from the grill. Haven't tried this yet, but I'm planning to dunk my straw bed that way when the time comes.

so i just read the entire log, because i've been shroomery idle for a while now, and i'd just like to say WOW!! you have done an excellent job bob stoner and are truly an inspiration.
i know this is your first bulk but how long have you been cultivating mushies? i'd just like to know a little about your experience level before taking on the bulk and doing such a fine job. cheers, and i'm very excited to see some dry weight/pictures.

I prefer using coke crates...you push down on your casing and flip over the tub(need a person to help usually) if the tub is too high use 2 crates...this is so you don't break your substrate getting it out...sometimes it wants to stick to the bottom and you'll have half of it break out and half stuck to the bottom

bob,
I was wondering about the tube you have sticking into your grow chamber, what is that for? Looks as though it has condensation in it so I was thinking it ran down to the water filled tub you have below for humidity or something. The tube I'm referring to is in this pic http://img28.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img28&image=DSC01617.jpg

It looks like its for an aquarium air pump. Most pumps are have too low air exchange to support such a big casing without fanning.

First off thanks everyone for taking interest in my grow.
Chudder: Good info I might try it that way. I am lazy though and another trip to the store might be to much :P Unless I am @ the store anyway
Today: Before this bulk. I have done 2 pf grows. Both of which I made into casings. All I have to say is it is a lot easier then they say it is. Just use Magash's Grain Tek and you're key.
Walrus: Thx for the info once again might try it out and I might not.
Kotton: You know it
Oppressed: It goes to my air pump. I had it in there for when I went out of town for 2 days to atleast give the casing some air exchange.
Gr0wer: Ur always on the money :P
The second flush is lookin like the first one. So I dont have an even bed of shrooms but it will still be nice. I got some fatties growin. This time around I am waiting for caps to open up. Should make for some nice pics. I will get some pictures up sometime. Only thing I wish was that we werent going out of season for cubes out side. If it was going to be season when my casing is spent I was going to plant it outside but what can you do.

How often did you fan with that band aid air pump? You can go with the meathod with polyfill stuffed in large holes just aove the casing and at the top of the lid for passive ventilation.

I am a'ok. Just lazy. The last flush brought me 2300g so about 8 ounces. This next flush is small, with some big guys. I accidentally dunked for about 29 hrs. I dont know if it did any damage, or if it is the reason for a small flush or just running out of nutrients. I dunno what the 4th flush is going to look like.
If I get out of lazy mode I will try to post some of the pictures I have taken.
If I do another bulk I think I will be doing a poo/straw one. I cant wait to see some monsters I get from that. On my last flush I had some big guys but nearly all of the shrooms fell over near the end. So when I harvested I had a fucking pile to pick through. Fun Fun

Sorry for not posting a lot more pics, I got lazy on you guys. I just thought I would post and let you all know that this setup got me well over a pound. Good Stuff.
It finally started to die out on me only giving me like 10 well sized mushrooms on the last 2 flushes then it succumbed to the GREEEEN. This happened about a week ago. So that casing is off to that wonderful place in the sky.
