All Salvia fans should check this out

Alright these are my two beautiful Salvia plants they are both the Palatable (Blosser) strain.

Top view

Now the baby one as you can see is clearly not a cutting. I got him one day when the soil from the mother was dry and sort of pulled away from the edge of the pot. Thus somehow letting this little guy grow from out the side. Has anyone ever seen a small Salvia plant like this one before? Are the size of those leaves average or normal for a plant of this size?

have you ever seen leaves this big!? Yeah, shes a healty one.

No, I honestly don't think this is a salvia at all.

Since no one has ever seen what Salvia looks like if it were grown from seed how can you be so sure this is not what it looks like in its early stage of growth? I also fail to see how it could possibly be anything else since the mother has been grown indoors where nothing else has had contact with it. The stem has begun to take a bamboo/square sort of shape so Im still convinced it is Salvia, but just to be sure I will continue to watch it and post another pic in a couple weeks if infact it turns out to be just that.

(edit) I clicked on the the picture to enlarge it... It's Dock or Sorrel, a common weed.

I believe the first is not Salvia and suggest you to not use it as Salvia...
But the other seems very good

As far as I knew, salvia divinorum is hard to grow(if not impossible) from seed and usually is only cloned from cuttings. There are many types of salvias, but only one salvia divinorum. I can't tell what those plants are, but the long leafed one is most likely something else.

I've seen plenty of pictures of Salvia from seeds. They look just like...hmm Salvia plants.

Actually im pretty sure that first pic is salvia, just a different strain (not divinorum). We had the same species growing in our outdoor garden.

"Since no one has ever seen what Salvia looks like if it were grown from seed how can you be so sure this is not what it looks like in its early stage of growth?"

Well, due to countless botanical descriptions, the look of new shoots on live cuttings, and just basic common sense you can easily tell thats not divinorum.

What conditions are you growing the big plant in? Fluros, winowcill, etc? I'm currently growing some under fluros but wanting to ween them onto a 250w HPS. Oh and by the way I too don't think the other one is Salvia divinorum.

I am pretty sure on this, but a definate way to tell if it is salvia divinorum is if the stem is square and not round. I did some reading at erowid and other salvia sites and I am pretty sure that Salvia Divinorum is one of the only square stock plants around. So unless the plant has a square stem... it is not divinorum.

i saw some salvia (sage) for sale in a publix near my home, and it kinda looked like that, you can use it to garnish a fish filet or something, but nothing else, if infact it is that.

All plants in the mint family will have square stems.

Well Im now taking the census view and that little bastard which I have been taking care of as if it were Salvia is definantly not Salvia. I had hopes of it being some kind of mutated strain but after asking Daniel Siebert of sagewisdom.org I now accept defeat and walk away in shame...*turn around to yell at plant* No more front row seat on the window cill for you.

I have had it sitting on a window cill since about the middle of summer and am now considering setting up a fluorescent lit grow space since fall is about here. I recently made a cutting which I have sitting under two 25w flourescent lights at about 6-8" away. Does anyone have some suggestions on growing with fluorescent lights, amount of watts/lumens that have worked for you?
