A Recommendation For The Pub Next Time You're Tripping/high
    #3064173 - 08/29/04 03:18 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I'm the type who absolutly loves music while enhanced, and

First is Pearl Jam doing a cover of Little Wing that goes on for almost ten minutes! If you enjoy extend, emotional, and intense guitar solos, this song is for you. Mike McCready is extremely good at playing his emotions through the guitar. I've never quite heard such an expressive guitar player.

You can get it here:
http://www.theskyiscrape.com/setlists/mp3s/pj1995-07-09t23.mp3

I also recommend November Hotel and Wake Up from Mad Season's only CD "Above" (which is Lane Staley & Mike McCready just writing music). Both are also incredibly expressive work.

I have a couple more favorites of course, and in fact have made mix & edited CDs with perfect smoking songs. I'd be interested in hearing what the pub listens to when they're high, since I'm always looking to add to my collection.

--------------------
The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

You wanna talk emotional guitar?

DUDE!!

Alex Lifeson is the BEST!!!

Check out RUSH - Limelight
and... The Camera Eye (9 minutes)
and... YYZ

Limelight has SUCH an emotional solo... It tears my soul in half when I'm peaking on 5 grams.

I'll probably always do drugs, so that just contributes to the addiction to The Shroomery... It's a vicious circle of bliss. :tongue2:

Alright, I'll check it out if I can. I find emotional solos to just be the most intense aspect of music.

Yes & yes! It takes me forever to download anything.... I downloaded Limelight.

Anyway, it's great! I like the slow build up into a series of hammer ons & pull-offs. Pretty impressive and I'll have to listen to it "enhanced" when I get the chance. Very nice slow bends and vibratos. Really streches the emotion out as much as he can. Still have to download the other ones. Great lyrics too.

Oh, I'm so glad you like it, and yes, it's awesome when "enhanced".

Can't wait to hear what you think of Jim Pepper's sax.

Thievery Corporation is some good listening. Try some Elders of Zion, they kick the ass

While the music isn't typically what I listen to, I was extremely impressed at how just how melodic the sax was. He really went high up on the register during that solo!

Speaking of sax, one band I love is Morphine, which features a (very low) baratone sax with a two string bass!

I also highly recommend the Mahavishnu Orchestra, which is hard rock-jazz. "Dream" has one of the most impressive guitar solos I've ever heard.

I'll second your recommendation of Mahavishnu Orchestra. A very good band!
