How about equal parts Quinoa, ground B.Rice & Vermiculite?
    #3061847 - 08/28/04 02:26 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Hey -

What do you folks think about this mixture for a substrate?

1 part ground Quinoa
1 part ground Brown Rice
1 part Vermiculite + or -
1 part water + or -

I just mixed up a batch of substrate using this formula and played with the water and Vermiculite until it was nice and fluffy. It seems like a good mixture to me and I thought I'd see what the rest of you thought about it.

Also, in regards to killing off contaminates while pressure cooking - do any contaminates stand the chance of living through a 75 minute cook at a proper temperature and pressure?

- Thanks for your input.

try it.

as for the 'sterilisation' - the term is innacurate, as yes, there are bugs that choose to live in boiling hot sulphur water under the sea. when you 'sterilise' you just kill the VAST majority of life. probably not all though, every time.

i hear Quinoa is supposed to be really good. Heard it has a high content of the nutes that mushrooms use to make psylocibin. Although not really sure what those nutes are, or if that statement is even true. just saying thats what I read/heard.

Do you have any idea of what those nutes are? If we could make a substrate that is very concentrated with said nutes, that would be nice.
