Hard things on my mushrooms

I have a question and i couldn't find the answer in the contaminants pages. I have these little hard things attached to some of my mushrooms i bought the other day. Some are fine but some of the bigger stems have these little things attached and some even seem to have some of the stem growing over and around them. I can pick them out and even crack them open as they have some sort of shell or something. I was wondering if i should pick these all off of the mushrooms or if they are normal. Above all i want to know what they are. Thanks for any help.
