dear pub, i've come to you because otd would probably turn this into a flame thread or something and this is serious for me. i am 18 years old. i have had a lot of stress with school in the past [summer semester] and just began my fall semester. i currently work as a barista for starbucks and love my job and all the benefits with it. for some stupid reason, i decided to apply for a second job with a close friend. i know the soon to be manager and he said he'd help me out if i got hired. well i put a late starting date on my application figuring it'd give me time to think more and they wouldnt just hire anyone right away. i was wrong. i got hired in less than half an hour and now i'm scared. i'm really worried i wont be able to have enough time to study or just have self time. and i dont know what to do. i just dont know. i need help. advice or something. please? anything. this post seems really pointless but i'd appreciate a response even if its a response to something totally different.

work like one shift a week with the new job and then start school, and if you think you can work more, then ask your new manager to schedule you more?

I would talk to the manager who hired you and tell him that you have a lot on your plate right now, and that you think it's best if you don't take a second job. Just be honest with him! I'm sure he'll understand. You have to look out for yourself and keep yourself sane first, you know?

first off: do you want *really* want both jobs? drop one if you can. next, try talking to both managers and trying to work a schedule that is to your benefit. drop the job that is scheduling less to your liking.
thats all i've got... why did you go for a second job in the first place?
where the hell did these shrooms under my name come from? I don't remember them being there last night.

i dont think i want both jobs. i mean i'd really love to work as a hostess and such and hang out with my manager friend but i'd probably lose sanity in the end. i dont know why i went for the second job. my friend said it'd be fun. the manager and i are pretty good friends, and it just has a nice atmosphere. i feel really dumb now. and those shrooms mean people want to have your babies.

Yeah, there's no way you can make good grades AND work two jobs. I'm sure there are those who have done so, but I can't think of any at the moment. Be that as it may, it would seem to me that that situation would leave little time for sleep and general rest and recreation, which you really do need. Sort of like burning the candle at both ends. You'd be a physical wreck in no time, methinks...

i work two part-time jobs and attend school full time, i wouldn't recommend it but i never had a real job before this and i'm a seriously lazy fuck and i manage. one of my jobs is at a biology lab at school inbetween classes and it's easy as hell though. if you don't have to do it don't. i only do it because i have a ton of bills to pay. i have time to party and shit, but i hardly ever sleep anymore. i have class at 9:00 - 4:00 tomorrow then i work from 5-12
