Those 'what ifs' are all temporary inconveniences.
The Buddha would simply carry on with wisdom.

Then the Buddha that was once known, essentially ceases to exist and with different characteristics, becomes a different person...rendering the 'Buddha' question invalid.

this may be an out of hand question.but i just replied to a topic about flaws, and the idea of rapists came up.
what would buddha do if someone tried to rape him?Not just sexually, thats included, but i mean everything about him?
Would he literally and/or figuratively "take it up the ass"?
this question has bothered me about enlightend individuals.
if someone were to do that to them, would they be quiet or talk and try to enlighten the person?

they'd talk their way out of it

sounds like bullocks, I know...but I once knew a chick that got dragged behind a building by four guys, and she managed to talk her way out of it without ever having even a single piece of clothing torn of - you'd be amazed at how powerful a person's words can be when they really know how to use em

He wouldn't have a bike because none of what he is about is possible 100$ of the time if he is around most of the world

I want to know, if he left his clothes in the laundry mat and came back to find his underwear missing what would he do...

Many years ago I was doing laundry in a public laundromatte in California. Rather than sit and watch them spin, I went to do some errands. I came back and was shocked to find my favorite tank top missing. It was a light blue silk top with 1920 Virginia Beach bathing beauties on it - very distinctive.

A week later I was driving along El Camino Real and saw this big dude wearing my shirt. (I am barrel-chested, but short.) I drove up on the sidewalk and was enraged. I flew out of the car.

Swam: "Listen asshole, you have 10 seconds to take my shirt off!"

Thief: "Wait, wait... I didn't steal it."

Swam: "...8, 7, 6..."

Thief: *panicking* "Um, someone gave this to me!"

Swam: "...4, 3, 2..."

Thief: *quickly pulls shirt over head and throws it to the Swam*

Swam: "Get-the-fuck outta my sight while you are still breathing."

Thief: *takes off running*

*Swam returns to his normal Buddha-nature and drives off satisfied that no blood had to be spilled. *

This is insane. I started this exact same thread a few months ago, and now it is nowhere to be found on the shroomery. Strange....

A point of perspective is being missed here. An enlightened one knows that and how we create our own realities and why. He would know how not to have his bike stolen and if "something" happened that suprised him, he would ask himself why he drew the experience to himself and what he could learn from it. He may also reason that the person who stole it wanted to experience guilt and remorse so they could overcome it and then he will feel like he was of service (on the higher levels) by leaving his bike available and that would mean more to him then the his own loss of a replacable material good.

HAHAHA I remembered it too! I think it's important for this matter to be resolved.

What if someone stole Buddha's PC so that he could no longer post on the Shroomery?

Hi how's it going, wanna kick Heroin basically painlessly on your own, in your own house, without any government "help" ,or the "help" of a crazy condescending, judgmental medical doctor? Read this:

Hehe, glad to hear I'm not going crazy over here!

Just throwing a couple ideas here....

It seems reasonable to assume that Buddha wore clothes to protect his body from the environment. He ate from a bowl because it was more convenient and comfortable than only using his hands. He probably inspected his food before he ate it, so as not to ingest any harmful insects or worms. These are just speculations, of course, but the underlying idea is that the Buddha was masterfully aware of his environment, and he acted accordingly.

So maybe, upon becoming aware of the imminent possibility of someone stealing something useful to him, like his bike, that he would have taken the neccessary precautions.

Of course, this almost seems like some kind of super-paranoia, with Buddha being aware of all possible things and planning against them constantly, but thats not what I'm getting at.

I think what I'm getting at is that Buddha, at least from my ignorant viewpoint, was all about expanding awareness and using that influx of knowledge to construct a middle path on which he could walk through the experience of life calmly and serenely.

In other words, with a little bit of awareness, you can arrange your current circumstances in such a way as to avoid future disturbances to your experience, thus freeing your energy for other things besides having to deal with stolen bikes.

Takes 3 seconds to lock the bike, causes little harm to life, saves you the burden of having to deal with the anger and hostility that accompanies having your mode of transportation stolen.

Hmmmm...doesn't seem like theres a clear cut answer to this question, which tells me this is a great thread!

This is funny. In Japan they don't have locks on their bikes. They just leave them out in the open. They put locks on their umbrellas though!
