Definition of a "proper shroomer"
    #3055477 - 08/26/04 10:44 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

ok..i was trying to explain to a rather "straight-edged" friend the proper, or real shroomer, but couldnt find the right words. My definition was something like, " proper shroomers arent people that do them to "get high" or whatever, but more of get "in tune" with nature. i told her real shroomers arent like raving druggies that start twitching when they dont get there hit of heroin every day. i know my definition sucked..i need some help explaining what it is... do you all understand what im geting at here? i was trying to explain to her that shroomers are smart, knowedegable people, not drugged up losers, if you know what im geting at. thnks
p.s. my appologies to people that do shrooms to get high, or raving druggies, that do heroin, no offence is intended. -bAd kArMa

real shroomer? all you need to do is go with the flow, there are so many diffrent people that eat mushrooms and that's what makes it great, there is no single mold for a shroomer.

bah, a "proper shroomer" is the shroomer that had the revelation that there is no such thing as a "proper shroomer"

how can one define what doesn't exist?

now put that in your pipe and smoke it .... mmmmmm

What you  might want to tell your friend is that a "spiritual shroomer" is one whom does shrooms for spiritual reasons. But that isn't much of a revelation, now is it

It is fair to say that someone who either grows to sell or "get fucked up" is not a proper shroomer.

from YOUR point of view.
I think the notion of 'proper' shroomer is complete BS.
Just do it for whatever reasons you want.

That seems to be the perfect thing to say. "We aren't bad people. We are people that want to explore new perspectives and see things in a different light." But .. meh, if she thinks we are bad people, then that is her problem I suppose. Other people's opinions of what constitutes good, bad, proper, innappropriate be damned. *shoots a glance at utopianglory*

i disagree, someone who grows shrooms to make money can be a true proper shroomer, if he dosn't think about it like that,if he thinks that he is just selling at a propper and fair price and just wants the less fortunate and less handy people some good home grown happyness, if he makes some money for his work who's to say that he's not propper

I don't think that there is any such thing as a proper shroomer.  It's too subjective.

HOWEVER...

I tend to have more respect for people who treat the mushrooms with respect.

A proper shroomer is anyone who takes the power of the mushroom seriously.

best deff i can think of is someone who doesn't go defining themselves or others under one specific label. sometimes i take shrooms to get high and end up having a massive spiritual enema, other times i take them for that effect and either just get high or have a bad trip. other times i just take them to alter my way of thinking about things and change my current perspective, others i might take them just because i felt like it with no expectations and this usually turns out the best. just as someone might see the world as black and white some see people as representative of a single common defining factor of their personality but this leads to missing every other aspect of them as well, no one is ever purely that shallow or easily definable but thats my thoughts on this and Mine alone :-)

"Psychonautics (from the Greek ψυχή (psychē "soul/spirit/mind") and ναύτης (naútēs "sailor/navigator") – a sailor of the mind/soul) [1] refers both to a methodology for describing and explaining the subjective effects of altered states of consciousness, including those induced by meditation or mind altering substances, and to a research paradigm in which the researcher voluntarily immerses him/herself into an altered state by means of such techniques, as a means to explore human experience and existence. [2]

The term has been applied diversely, to cover all activities by which altered states are induced and utilized for spiritual purposes or the exploration of the human condition, including shamanism, lamas of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, [3] sensory deprivation, [1] and archaic/modern drug users who use entheogenic substances in order to gain deeper insights and spiritual experiences. [4]

A person who uses altered states for such exploration is known as a psychonaut"
