Loc: gone with my shrooms
Thursday University District Fresh Shrooms
    #3053974 - 08/26/04 05:04 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Well as usual I was not out looking for shrooms and I found some in the mulch and in grassy areas in about one hour of walking. Saw many chawed up by the lawn mower man's evil blades of steel.

HEre are some coprinus. There were hundreds of them and again I had a wrong setting when I started to take images. Now I broke my card holder to the computer so I have to use the camera to computer to load them up now.

Here are the Coprinus I found. As noted there were hundreds of them, only a few of the better images.
the first two are grown up shrooms with the second image with an ovrturned caps to show gill structures. Not edible or psychoactive.

Those are a little ovverdone.

Here is one with two fresh opened capped ones to show the gills.

A few baby ones just emerging from the woodchip w mulch.

A few more young'uns popping up

And here we have a gray baby slug feasting on the lonely baby Coprinus.

This next batch of shrooms are marasmius oreades (the Fairy Ring Mushroom) There were n hundreds of thsese fellows but they were all chawed up by the lawn mower. @cro should know were these shrooms were growing at.l

Some were in a fairy ring but again they were mowed to bits and pieces like the Dave clark Five Song.

Well this next one was a monsterous size shroom. Forgot about the gills for some reason or orther. cannot recall if they were dark or white.
Sorry but I probably won't takle the route I took today a second time.

I placed my 11 inch thong next to the shroom to show size.

and finally a few small Conocybe species. The gills were white in a few younger specimens. The one IO turned over here started to become cinnamon colored or ochreacious, however, it had a strage bug inside eating it. The bug is to the f right of the overturned shroom. You can see the spot he was eating when I disrupted his meal.

Don't you just love shroom bugs?

Check that bug out.

And have a shroomy day.

mj

Again, many lawns were mowed tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Usually most get it on Thuursday. But now some are not even mowing and many are not using sprinkler systems or fertilizers in their condos. Getting to expensive. I also checked out a blue ringer lawn which has been replaced with colorful deocrative rocks, you know those smooth shiny river looking ones and then the other half of this place was laid out in vocanic looking ash rocks.

Why do they ruin my shroom lawns and gardens with rocks?

mj

ANd again, have a shroomy day

The rains seem to have brought up all sorts of mushrooms lately. I think I know exactly where that large one was taken, I believe it is the same one from this post: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1
Some sort of Agaricus.
Sorry about the Stunzii patches, guess it's time to find some new ones.

Peace

Yea MJ lawns dont make any sense to grow for people around here. They require to grow optimally an inch of rain a week. Thats a whole shitload of watering. I say we let the rivers flow free and give the poor salmon a chance.

On a more upbeat note here are some statistics for the month of january with regards to rainfall.
-3.5 inches of rain for August this far in 2004
-Average rainfall for August is 1.2 inches
-Record rainfall from the last ten years in August was 2.4 inches in 2000.

Now I remember 2000 was an absoutley crazy year for fungii fruiting. Using my math and common sense i think this year (2004) will hold a massive fruiting of our favorite genus.

MJ, do you think the stable shavings down south are ripe yet? I'd love to go out on another foray with you. I also have those S.A. prints that I need to get to you....As well as some pictures. The pictures didn't turn out too well though. But the prints are great.
