Bought my first batch of fresh mushrooms yesterday, was just wondering whether their colour is normal i guess. I didnt like the fact that they were damp so I left them under a lamp to dry up for a bit, and now they're crispy dry, but they've blackened a bit...
What was I supposed to do when I got them, fridge them or just letting dry is fine as well? Just hope i didnt waste my money..
Also, now that they're dry, do i need to keep them in air-tight? container? I read somewhere that they blacken because of oxydysation but i read as well somewhere that keeping them air-tight isn't a good idea at all.
It's not for long term storage, just need for them to last a day or two more.. oh and they're the mexican ones, which i was told were the milder ones.
once dry you can store em in a lil baggie or something of the like, no real worries of them building humidity in their after dried.
no real experience with mexican mushrooms so cant comment on the blackening, unless it was more of a blue....i've had some very large caps that blued to the point of blackness and if thats the case its quite normal.
