dude, you got issues.

The first blurry photo does not strike me as Amanitaish. It's not just blurry, its also dark. Try using the flash; take lots of picture until you get a good one. I can't see a volva, nor is there any evidence of a universal vale.

The second blurry photo is better because it is bright enough for me to see that there are patches of the universal vale stuck there; this leads me to believe that the mushroom in the bottom photo is indeed an Amanita. However, the stem is the wrong color, whatever species that is, I guarentee that it is not the one you are looking for.

sorry its a pen cam, here comes some better pics.

The remnants are all there, and I know Amanita. I picked the Formosa in my Avatar, what else would you possibly think they were?

Sorry about the pics again, but hey, its not obvious even in a shitty pic?

as shroomydan has mentioned, these picture are far to un-clear to make any accurate estimate at spp.

however with that said, upon closer inspection, the cap 'appears' to have universal veil remnants and the stem base as far as i can tell 'resembles' the base of A. muscaria, but i am in no way trying to ID this 'do not take my word for it'....though with some clearer pics and a description someone may be able to help you.

good luck.

EDIT: opps: sorry shroomydan - just realised i prity much repeated exatly what you said.

You do know that Amanitas can kill you don't you? You also may know that some of the ones which won't kill you will have you sitting on the toilet and barfing in a bucket for twelve hours.

Even if you do get the right ones, then if you don't prepare them the right way then you will still get sicker than hell. It's also interesting to note that Amanita muscaria use disapeared in siberia after alcahol was introduced there. I've never tried the mushroom you seek, but I can deduce from this piece of history that it's not more enlightening, nor pleasurable than getting plastered. Though I have never collected the mushroom which you want yours to be, I have seen them in a number of field guides; this is how i know that the stems should be white.

I dont seek, I use and have used.

The Acid in the Amanita that causes liver disorder must be heated up at particular temperatures to become Muscimol.

This is why the reindeer urine provided the Siberians with an experience. The Amanita would cook inside the reindeer, and come out free of toxins in the piss. This is why we saw people drinking Shamanic Urine also, the Shamans would substain the severe liver sickness. Everyone I encounter seems to be horrifed of my friend Aman Musc, and Aman Musc var For.

This mushroom is eaten for its flavor in many countries and islands, and hello...the Fly Agaric mushroom is debated by some to be the beginning of Mans reign on Earth. Fuel for the Rg. Vedas, the Holy Bible, and quite possible every living holy text. Havent you seen the 13th centure Adam and Eve Amanita Frescoes??

Amanita, personally, is the holiest of all fungus for me. I truly believe in its presence, and its place in history.

Ill babble on em more when Im not baked and half awake.

As long as YOU know the difference between the good animitas(Muscaria, Red, red-yellow, and pantherina if thats your thing(but they are more toxic)
And you know what the BAD animitas are (deathcap, destroying angel etc etc)

Then everything is COOL, nice work  , I am hitting the patches on thursday in my corner of north america.
Last year was great and this one will be even better.

love your post bro, Ive got tons of pictures to take for ya if youre into Amanita like me.

I love Georgia so much, I have my weilii patches, my wonderful Amanita patches, Pans, its all nearby.

The Formosa can grow enormous around here, Ive seen them massive, like I said, forearm sized stems. generally I peel the top layer of skin off the cap, and dry them to smoke, I cook the remants at a low temp, Id have to check the recipe, and make a tea or cooking base.

Amanita is one of our plantes most sacred and important treasures, and can be found in folklore, religion, culture and significance all over the world.

You pick Weilii???, We should trade some prints at the right time of year(PLEASE  )

My wild prints, Beaos etc, for some of yours weili. PM me about that.

Anyway, your second pick is CLEARLY and animita, even if the camera sucks, and the yellowing is normal, I have seen it time and again.

I knew you were not just some kid wandering around the woods about to poison himself , it was obvious, and yes animita are quite special.

I asssume you know who James Arthur is right???

Check out his website and the radio interveiw thats on the "Blue honey" website.

I adore James Arthur.

I regard Terence McKenna and his brother as my foremost-enjoyable Amanita adventurers.

My Weilii season started last week, I posted my most recent Weilii pics in a post from like 2 days ago. My patch is blooming, and it got rained on today. I havent taken any prints this year, PM about those. I will not trade for just anything though, you seem like the dude though.

As far as this years Amanita, the season has started sooner than ever here in GA, and its all good with me. However, this is the first time I have ever found red-capped Amanita locally. While Var. Formosa has been abundant in our State forever, the Redtops shouldnt be. I only have one patch of those. How do you dig to dose em?

burnt out.

Cool. I just bought some dried amanita muscaria from the Telluride fest. Can't wait to try them as I've never eaten them before. The guy I bought them from said a good dose was 4 grams but some kids I was talking to said 2. How much do you guys eat?

what shroomydan said...

I don't doubt they're amanitas, but those don't look like the A. muscaria I've seen.

I agree as well. They strike me as Russlas. Perhaps Russla emetica(The Sickener) or similar species. If they are Russlas, you could get pretty sick from eating them.
