Would buddha lock his bike?
    #3045062 - 08/24/04 04:26 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

If he was all into abandoning materialism, it would follow that he would simply leave his bike unlocked right?

But then, what if someone stole his bike? Would there be this fat man chasing some punk rocker down the street screaming obscenities?

or would he just accept it and walk around from then on?

But if he just decided to forget about it, wouldn't people lose respect for him and toss eggs at him as they rode by on their bikes?

And wouldn't this in turn make Buddha angry and resentful that he was treated this way?

What would he do with all of his anger and frustration then?

Bicycles are fucked up.

I don't think Buddha would ride one at all, do you?

If Buddha were here today, I bet he would go shoe leather express.

Unless someone took his shoes...

I want to know, if he left his clothes in the laundry mat and came back to find his underwear missing what would he do...

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Buddha would leave his bike, if he rode one.
Buddha would forget his bike if he were wise.
Buddha would not get angry and bring violence upon himself.

Is there anything that he could allow himself to own?

What if the forces of evil stole his food?

What's so great about not having any toys to play with?

How come some spend their entire lives studying life and never living it?

Where is it written that this life is not to be enjoyed simply for what it is?

What if the forces of evil stole his food?

He would assume a poor person took it, and would be glad someone is being fed.

What's so great about not having any toys to play with?

So that the self begins to decrease, and the sublime ecstasy increases.

How come some spend their entire lives studying life and never living it?

Materialism. For someone who isn't a materialist, life is something that is constantly being built.

Where is it written that this life is not to be enjoyed simply for what it is?

True peace is hidden beyond the false desires of matter.

When I was young, I was told Buddhism was the path to enlightenment. I later read up on it and found, it was the path to nothing-literally and figuratively.

Out of nothing comes something as was demonstrated by the nothing thread and sienfield show.

We create empty spaces and fill them every day. Thats what I call living in light and it sure beats the walk to it beleiving we are living in lack of it.

Some may want to beleive they are in the dark and have to follow a path to get to the light and I say, it's already within us and there is no where to go but within experiences............now where's my surf board? I want to go play with my toys!

You're assuming you know what Buddah would assume?

I guess he wouldn't think about it at all.

What about music? I mean music isn't material. But you need material possesions to make music. If someone stole all my instruments, you better believe I'd be pissed off.
