I am just at that critical moment when I am fussing and fretting over my first cakes :) And am in the home stretch.

dude, put those cakes on jar lids, this will keep them off the perlite and u won't have to worry so much....

They ave never rested right on top of the perlite as soon as they were birthed they were put on squares of aluminium sprayed with hydrogen peroxide. I think the suspense is starting to get to me. I feel like I have been holding my breath for two or three monthes and it all comes down to the next couple weeks. Before I can exhale.

I just put the cakes directly on the perlite, it doesn't seem to hurt the shrooms as long as the perlite isnt soggy.
Besides, everytime I put the jar lids on the perlite, they rust and get rust all over the perlite.

no use plastic lids, the only problem with sitting them on the perlite is they will soak up too much water producing bloated shroomz and if contams do get in the perlite guess what? your shroomz will soak that up as well...
