    #3040211 - 08/23/04 04:10 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

currently fully colonized, have in front of a/c for next twenty four hours.can i just cut open mycobag and put cake directly into terrarium?i am not confident enought to case, tried once with big problems.could i cut my myco cake into 1/4's for the terrarium, would that work??one of these bags is a 5lb corn bag,two are 1 1/2 pound grain.what would be the safest and increase my yield.jim

Yeah, you could just treat them like cakes. If you do I would think it would be best to just leave them intact. Breaking them shocks the myc and it will have to recover before it will start growing mushies. A certain amount of substrate is going to produce a certain amount of fruits. The only thing thats really going to increase your yield is to case.

cold shocking is a myth!(for cubes) but the only way to increase yeild is to case...you could lettem fruit once and then case if you are worrried about contams, but i wouldnt put on my surgery cap and cuttem up. edit:(what are you doin with a 5 lber of corn if you werent prepared to case)

"cold shocking is a myth!" is a statement that surely comes from someone who hasn't learned its benefits. Such as the way it can be used to achieve perfect pinsets in casings...

This guy has been registered since 10 pm last night and had 18 posts by 2 am and all he has done is talk trash to other shroomerites.
His name suits him well.  Coldshocking is no myth btw.  I'd leave your spawn intact like cylosyb said and case that shit, you can do it.  Get some 50/50 or mix your own.....sterilize that shit and throw it on there.  Don't be afraid to try it again. :goodluck:

You know you can just leave em and expose them to light and fruit in the bags.

I knew this was coming.....ok yall get your mouth prepared for your foot! listen up shroomerites, and perhaps learn a thing. I know you don't think  a newbie might have a grasp of mycology, so i will back up my "myth" with some evidence! keeping in mind that dunking in the fridge is a means to acquire moisture and lower contam risk, it may actually delay pinset!

now Hippy3 and Roger_Rabbit probably have no meaning in your closed mind yet IMO they know WTF they are talking about! and heres an actual experiment that you can "learn" from.
