Help Me Change My Dads Vote...
    #3042075 - 08/24/04 01:28 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

For some reason my Dad is going to vote for George Bush....

He makes his point as being that he likes premptive strikes and premtive war as a means of controll..

He is an eduicated man and makes for great debates whenever we talk but he still is all for Bush and approves of the things he has done...

Here is where I can change his mind but I need help...

Bush may talk about small business and entrepreneurialism but he is hardly a good president for small business... In fact he is BAD for small business...

I already have a few sources online and Dad has read them but he needs more... Since my parrents depend on the family business he has said that if I can show Kerry as making the best promisses and having the better track record for small businesses, he would change his vote for at least the Reform Party (which Ive voted for 2 elections running).

Soooooo..

Please help me...

I need all the information on Bad Bush and Small Business

I need all the information on Good Kerry and Small Business..

I dont want my dad to cancel my vote...

Sounds to me that your educated dad already made up his educated mind. If you don't mind me asking what kind of small business is your dad in?

Your dad should be working to change your vote. He's the one who has it right..... for now.

Maybe you should listen to your father. Most business owners vote republican. Years of hard work make people wiser.

"Years of hard work make you wiser"

What an absurd statement. You may aswell say that years of solving maths problems makes you physically fitter.

I disagree. Years of paying taxes, obtaining property, voting, and working within our system probably give one a better insight to what works and what does not than some youngster that just has a utopian ideology about how things should be vs the way things actually are.

I will accept that these things give one an insight into the system, but nothing that reading extensively on the subject of politics couldn't do a thousand times better.

It may not make you wiser in and of itself but if you have to deal with all the legal BS small businesses have to deal with then the wise choice would be a more conservative candidate (in the real sense) no matter what your political leanings are.

Yeah. I would use this wording:

"years of paying taxes, obtaining property, voting and working within the system give you a better idea of how it is in your interest to vote"

You should always vote but knowing who your voting for is more important.

Damn....

Sounds like everyone has started to lick Bush.

Bush has gutted the SBA and made SBA loans more expensive and harder to get. He has also ruined the SBA financial system by consolidateing several SBA programs into ones that benefit BIG Business and hurt The Small Businesses..

My family is in the Resturant Business and they pay taxes out the ass...

Kerry has supported Small Business in the past by voting for things that improve stability in the SBA. He also proposes big tax breaks for starting businesses and similar breaks for continuing businesses but the best thing about Kerry is that he plans to address the problem of health care for small business employees.

Kerry has some damn good plans but I guess we will see if he follows through or not.

No offense, but if your dad is retarded enough to think that preemptive strikes---unprovoked military attacks--are a sound policy to bring about security and peace rather than motiviating millions of enemies, then there is no hope for him.

Did Tao Te Ching illustrate his points by calling people "retarded"?

Gabba, find out how much money your father makes a year. If the Bush tax cuts helped him out, tell him how much more fun it will be when Kerry "Rolls" them back. He can see that he's taking home less money, and know that the money is going to some uneducated welfare recpient where it's really needed, rather than the mouths of his family. That'll show him!

ummm, sorry, I can't help. A vote for Bush or Kerry is bad for business, freedom, wealth, etc., etc., etc.

It's extremely difficult next to impossible to change the minds of people who are 40+ years of age.

I've talked to many people whose parents have changed their minds about Bush.
