balling up?

Like tiny 1/10" balls of solid white mass? (pre-pins)

Or fluffy white cotton balls of mycelia closer to 1/2" or bigger?

Pretty much any disturbance to the mycelia damages it to some extent and sets you back a few days, as it regrows connections.

If your balls were pre-pins, you just F-ed up dude.

depending on the bag you should break it up some once it starts colonizing. i have bags now that i had to break up/turn over after they got most of the way finished because the bottom was completely uncolonized.

i cant say why, always, but the mycelium can bulge up like that sometimes. in the jars im doing now i just flipped them over for the last 10% or so, and since they have shrunk there is some air room at the bottom and one of the jars has the myc starting to bluge up like that. i assume its relativly normal. i keep them completely in the dark for days at a time, not compulsivly checking them or anything so i know its not pinning.

What substrate you using? Rye grass seems to ball up as the myc forms weird.

True maybe it was the Tampanensis that was causing the balling on the rye grass.. Well either way I had it too. Shook like a mofo, it spread around and formed balls again before spreading slightly more "normal"
