Amazonian Cubensis question
    #3038430 - 08/23/04 03:35 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I am planning on birthing after my cakes show sign of primordia (growing pins invitro).I have been reading and searching alot on the PF tek and casing (and a few other things aswell).

In PF-TEK For Simple Minds the author says after cakes have colonized 100% to store the jars at normal room temperature (70?F)and giving them light a few hours a day.

It then says within 5-10 days (with certain mushroom strains it can however take up to 30 days)Hyphal knots will appear and in the following days small mushrooms become visible and then you should birth.

My questions are....anyone grown Amazonian cubensis this way.How long do they usually take to show primordia?

7 days without waves makes one weak!

While waiting for primordia to form inside the jar can help to align flushes (everything pops at once), I consider it a waste of energy for the cakes to produce primordia that will most likely be aborted and rot.

I would suggest going directly from incubator into dunk/fridge overnight, then rolling (dry verm or a casing mix), then birthing into fruiting chamber with 12-16 hours of light a day.

While you will get more spread out flushes, your overall yield should improve. Shrooms like their space, and do much better with some air exchange and flow.

I've seen Amazonian pop from a cake done this way in 4-5 days, harvesting starts in 7-8.
