Help with ID.
    #3033373 - 08/21/04 04:35 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

These were found in Boulder, Colorado growing on a lawn on the side of the street. Smell like fresh mushrooms and a little bleach. Found today. Also, do not seem to bruise blue.

Apparently not, because I don't see any of this:

II. Accurate mushroom descriptions

It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.

A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.

Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:

a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)
b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)
c. Measurements of cap and stem.
d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)
e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)
f. Spore print color (very important!)
g. Color that the mushroom bruises
h. Scent of mushroom

Uhh, so you expect someone to know if the stem is hollow or solid from a photo. Or know the measurements or texture of cap and stem. Seriously  :wtf:

the nickel is provided for measurement purposes, as for the stem, I couldn't tell whether it was hollow or not, because the stems were somewhat dry.

Those are, as Mitchnast noted, Marasmius oreades, a very common lawn mushroom. They are edible.

Happy mushrooming!
