WBS tek
    #3035841 - 08/22/04 11:48 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Sounds like an awesome tek, thumbs up to whoever invented it. Well once I get my spores I'm going to buy a huge bag of wbs and utilize this tek. I do have one question though, do you have to use the quart jars because I already have a case of 1/2 pint and would rather use those than pay another 10 bucks for quart size and junk the ones I got. Wish I had seen this tek sooner!

Forget that rinsing, soaking, simmering, draining nonsense.. complete waste of time.

Just add the correct water ratio and PC.

Hehe.... I do it this way too. I use 170 g millet and 100 g water for a 700 ml jar.

But, soaking can work just as well. It's a matter of preference, the measuring of amounts is faster than soaking, rinsing, draining, loading.

200g millet and 130g water in a pickle jar here, probably works out about the same

Fine, whatever floats your boat!

That "shit", as you put it, is nutrients that you are throwing away.

I just don't see the point in wasting HOURS of precious time when you can accomplish the same (if not better) results in a matter of seconds.  :smirk:

what are the spore germination rates using WBS and 1cc of spores per quart. I ask this because I recently did Magash's rye grain tek and it's been almost a week, and no growth whatsoever. Is rye grain different than WBS in the this regard?

Thanks in advance.

Well I had 3 jars of WBS 2 had foil lids 2 layers. the other had a normal screw on lid with one hole. The foil ones exploded very quickly my stupid screw lid one (mayo jar) is rooted 3 weeks barely any colonization. Im thinking foil is getting more O2 .

well how do you determine the water/wbs ratio? Do you just fill a jar up with wbs, then fill it up to the top with water and drain the excess water? I don't have a scale yet...and I really don't want to spend 2 days soaking, rinsing, and simmering when it's really just a big waste of time.

for each 1 pint jar i would add 2/3cup wbs 1/2 cup of water and pinch of gypsum then cook if you want to speed up colonization heat the water in the microwave first then stir in a teaspoon of organic honey or karo for each pint
