It's so common and natural that's it's weird to think that someone had to invent it. Hmmmmm...

I bet it came as instinctive, back when man was still living in caves and couldn't say anything more than "ugg...oooga"
The number of nerve-endings in the lips is far beyond most other areas of the body, so I suspect it had something to do with mating practices while we were still "animals".

You know... It could have just been some cave man trying to eat a chick when he was hungry but somehow... slipped... And landed in a sexual position. That's how it was related to love. I guess.
Anything is possible... With imagination.

I think about that sometimes too. When you look at two people kissing, it kinda looks really akward. Don't ya think?

Well when I think about it, I think about how natural it seems since like trendal said our lips are really sensitive. I guess that's just because we have seen it all our lives and we're used to it. But then I start to think about it more objectively and it's like, WTF?? What a strange thing to do...

On that thought.. Where the hell did sex come from? How the hell did we know how to do it? It seems rather wierd that the original male and female somehow knew what to do.

Sex just seems a lot more intuitive and logical than kissing. Plus if you believe in evolution the earliest primates had to have 'discovered' it.

I believe it was Freud who thought that kissing was so appealing because it makes us think back to our early baby stages where we were breast feeding
And as already been mentioned, the lips resemble other lips to the male, and it's a nice spot. Odd though, I wonder if any other primates kiss sexually

Kissing is a fairly new concept to humans. According to the Epic of Gilgamesh, lovers did not kiss; they rubbed noses.
And during that time, civilization had already begun; barely.

I know this because I read the fucking epic poem you dip shit.
I was not, however, trying to impose my view upon you, posing it as a factual reference. I was merely stating something that I had read. By the way, Gilgamesh is supposedly a real king from the 27th century BCE. So, I would presume that some of the details derived from the Epic of Gilgamesh could be true.
If you want to believe in some fairy tale shit about kissing, go ahead. You can't truly refute my claim, so fuck off.

Maybe you should pay attention to the warning on the screen next time. If you had, you'd realize this thread is over five years old.

dude i was (and still am) well aware of how old this thread was -
'warning'? LoL - more just like the time stamp.
i just didn't see the whole sharing of the breath of life thing included here so i felt like i would add my thoughts. just becuase this is an old thread doesn't mean people won't see it or want to read it - i mean i stumbled across this thread somehow - and i wasn't looking through only old threads. i mean the OP may be long gone (or is he?) but i was answering for people who might be interested in talking about this subject (or reading about it)
- as you can clearly see up there ^^^^ there are people interested in talking about this, the part about the epic of Gilgamesh is especially interesting to me.

I think the Romans brought that up to our moderns civilizations, maybe after observing ants, who do "kiss" naturally to exchange digested food, as a form of social exchange.

Naturally! Depends of the kiss, too.
I know for example that traditionnally, people here in France kiss twice (sometimes even 4 times) on the cheeks when they say hello or goodbye. Less and less people do it though among the male population. You also have cultures that don't allow such things until marriage or in special circumstances, never in public (I'm talking about mouth to mouth kissing there).
