 wtf! guess what i found on my cake

I dont know how the hell it got on there, but I was looking at what i thought were primordia, when I spotted a very small maggot. my cake has not been out where a fly could get to it. should I remove the cake from the chamber since there are 2 other cakes with it? has this happened to anyone before?

fungus fly larva is wut the maggot probably is.. the flys themselves are tiny, so itmay of easily gotten into your kit without your knowledge, CHANCES ARE THAT IF LARVA IS ON YOUR CAKE THE FLYS have laid thousand of tiny eggs inside your cake.. it happened to me b-4 and i just left them in the chamber to see wut would happen and they ate the flushed fungus, it sucked, i broke open the cake and their were thousands, if theirs one, theirs usually a million but good luck. i hope for the best

If that is a fungus gnat larva, get rid of that cake before they all mature into the adult phase. Those things are a bitch to get rid of.

Hmm... This is interesting. I just started a new terranium, and have placed perlite in it and I noticed some flies inside the terranium.
Does anyone know a method of exterminating these flies before I put my cakes in?
Will they also invade a casing?
Lastly, is there a chemical that would kill the insects, yet leave the environment safe for fungus?

Depends on the type of flies.

Go for a Pyrethrum based product, something like this (look for a spray, a fogger might be too much)

Where the hell do these insects come from? One day they are not there and the next there around 50.
