I dont have a pic, but I think my cap might be contaminated. I was making a spore print, and when I removed it today, it had a very light layer of white fuzz growing on it much like the mycelium at the base of the stems. When I rubbed my finger on the cap, it sorta rubbed off, but it looks like it stained blue. The smell is just mushroomy. Can mycelium continue growing on the cap after its been picked? It looked like mycelium was growing on the cap from its primordia stage to after the veil broke. Im just wondering if its still safe to eat.
im sure its ok. ill take it off just to be safe. btw guess what i found on my cake, a goddamn maggot. i dont know how the fuck it got on there, but it was very small and I just got rid of it. do you think i should remove the cake from the chamber because i have 2 other cakes.
