Really piss me off. Just how narrow minded and incongruous some people can be. And it's even worse when they actualy think there making sense.
So you know, you try and tell them straight not being rude. But they just don't get it. It's very, very aggravating. Can anyone else relate?

Yes I deal with people like that all the time. I think most of us do. It's sad when you see people like that that you care very much about.

Yeah I saw that my parents had a Bush/Cheney sticker on their car. All I could do was hang my head in shame. My mom worships him like he's the Jesus in his second coming.

This guy I know online. Lives in my city. He's 19 which makes him legally independant. He live's in a group home, and complains about it non-stop.
So I'm like, "Well, man you can live on your own. Your an adult, it's not hard to find a job and a place to live." That doesnt sink in, he's content being spoonfed, and complaining about it.
Then he starts blaming his mom for where he is. And I tell him his life is in his hands. Your parents can't really be blamed for too much. honestly, if you want something you do it yourself. right? no, he can't fathom that.
Then he starts talking about snorting ritalin. and I roll my eyes..

that's funny, you would think if they put THAT much work into it, they would put it on the wall, but it's like they were ashamed for helping, but couldnt actualy go thru the motion of throwing away an autographed picture from a president....

I use to be like that and I bet most ppl here too at some point in their lives even if they wouldnt like to admit it . I try to look at it this way sometimes, I picture my old self in their shoes and try to convince "myself" otherwize. Though I dont use that method all the time. I just try to pay real close attention to their reasoning and not "fight" their argument but let them roll over to your idea without feeling they have to defend themselves.

After taking a bunch of philosphy classes and reading a lot of philosophy (which by the way has allowed me to solve "life's dilemmas"), I realized that you just can't control people and it's almost futile to try force your will upon them. Period.
I would quote the philsopher, but I don't have the book with me right now. But this single paragraph solved so many issues for me and I learned to let go of the things that constantly plague our minds. It was a true moment of clarity.
1. Relationships. You can only do so much in a relationship and if your partner is going to be an ass, cheat on you, etc. there's really nothing you can do about it, so you shouldn't worry at all. Of course it's going to suck if any of the above happens to you, but with time you'll get over them. Plenty of fish in the sea.
2. Work. Work sucks period (unless you're pursuing your true passion in life). I worked at a restaurant and I used to get so worked up whenever I got a rude customer. But after that moment of clarity, I just let things go so easily.
3. Friends, family, or other humans you come into contact with. You just gotta let them be. They're gonna do what they're gonna do and you just have to accept it (unless they're physicall hurting you, no one deserves physical abuse).
Just my .02. Hope that helps!

If you try your hardest to get through to someone and they still wont listen, thats their problem. Seriously i dont mind ignorant people that are willing to learn, but if your just ignorant and wont budge i dont have the time of day.

Ooooooooooooooooh yes. I can relate. Not that I'm perfect or anything- I catch myself being narrow minded and incongrous too. About once every 10 years
