the great thing about this tek is that you can do a little work, say 2 weeks worth and have flushes for months and months. And it requires no maintenance. Fresh air is exchanged when the flush is picked. no extra moisture or anything except a little patching of casing is added when needed. so once you do the work. you dont' have to do anything until its picking time! as long as you have good air flow in the room that the bins are sitting in, that is all the maintenance needed!

Humidity level is natural due to the size of the spawn/casing versus the size of the chamber.

so do you just balance the top tub on the bottom one? you dont have to make sure its tightly sealed in anyway?
isnt there a concern of it being knocked over accidentally somehow?
if one shroom gets big enough im sure it could push it slightly and knock it off balance...but yeah thats if that is how it is done.
what a great way to grow, no fanning, and no humidifier, geat.

how many flushes do you usually get from straw? any tricks for keeping away contams inbetween, or rehydrating?

There is a picture that he has posted of it, you can see that the top tub is slightly over the bottom one, probably with some force aswell.
That would be one very strong mushroom wouldn't it..

the best thing I see in this tek is that you could give your casing an h202 spray close it up and really not have to worry about contams at all...i would probably duct tape it shut tho simple and effective also great for those who are too busy to be fanning alot EDIT:I've given it some thought and I really think your on to something here...I'm making one these as my next project

I wouldnt tape it because tape leaves residue and looks messy. Also you should still inspect every few days.

his tek is all about leaving it shut dude...and I've thought it out...4 bolts would hold it down perfectly and when I said duct tape I meant just where the tubs connect...its not really messy...not in any sense that would hurt the project anyways

But why? Just use any large tote, drill the high/low holes, stuff em, and leave the lid down. I mean you can put lock and chain with time release mechanisim but why?

Here's what I thought about doing.
Cut about 2-3" off the end of a roll of saran wrap and go around the seam with it like tape. It won't leave any residue and it will cause a pretty good seal so as to not let any contaminants in.

the extra tub adds a lot extra space for air and humidity for one thing...I like my substrate to be around 6"'s and this would create a very small area for any air(with only 1 tub)...it also would make pickin easier...its really not that hard to add a bin of the same size on top...and I think it would be very worth it

just thinkin about what burma on horse shit could do in one these makes me drool lookin forward to trying it out...I will not be adding the inside bag tho...I don't think the moisture drippin down would create any problems since you basically have a sterile environment(if you spray with h202/water before closing that is)...the moisture is coming from the casing so it can go back into it without causing any excess water
