Pinning on the sides of casing, how to get out, Magash?
    #3025860 - 08/19/04 09:12 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Well directed at Magash because I've followed your teks for my growing so far and I use similar everything but answers from all are welcome and appreciated. I was wondering if you get mushrooms fruiting from the sides of your containers as well? There are numerous and I was wondering if they cause a problem. Obviously they can't be left there or they will rot but whats the easiest way to pick them and are they really a problem? What do those of you useing clear containers do? I know I could black out the sides reducing the chance of this happening but if I can let it happen and pick them easily by flipping out the casing or something (while dunking it perhaps?) then I'd just let it continue to happen...

Due I am going through that right now.
Cool to have soooo many shrooms huh?

I have decided to let e'm grow and pick e'm

What I did was to flip the whole cake out of the container and put it in a little larger one. To allow for side fruits.

Now I can expect many more Shrooms.

I don't know what Magash might suggest but this small fix is working
wonders.

You are right if shrooms left alone on the sides, next to the container ,have a high chance a rotting.

use a container thats not clear
I would be very clean and pick those little buggers when they are ready
on a very clean surface dump your casing out on it remove the shrooms and then use this time to put some ducttape around the sides the container too

Yes I agree leaving the side clear will deffintly cause side fruiting
But, I have side shrooms going on because the casing shrank so much. There was a easy inch between the casings and the sides of the container.Light gets in there anyway.

the casing is pulling away because of moisture loss within the casing, an inch on all sides is a lot. next time keep it moist enough throughout, and try to figure out if it was your terrarium or a lack of watering that caused the lack of moisture.
