The word God needs to be replaced. People get so confused, it can mean so many different things, and thus it is used too much.
God is dead
it can't own shit

Thats a broad question so I am going to narrow it down to control related to humans versus animals or the weather.
Fear and love are the two motivating forces behind all human movement.
Here's another way to look at it. Self control is the only control that is real that you can bank on. People who can't control themselves give their power away to things they let control them. External control is an illusion for that reason. You can take your power of control over the self back any time you wish. because of free will, you can give it away too.

"What forces of nature control this planet?"
All of them control parts of it. Nothing controls "all" of it unless you are referring to "everything."
Like as a collective, all natural forces are controlling everything.
If you attempt to separate a natural force from the whole, a confusion arrises as to what is controlling what. If you fragment it, then you can say that A controls Z and B controls Y and all of this, but you're always going to leave something out that we haven't discovered yet or are currently confused about.
The everything controls everything.

Humans seem to be doing a fairly "good" job of controlling the planet.

The same four forces that control the rest of the Universe:
Electromagnetism Gravity Weak nuclear Strong nuclear
All known physical processes are the result of these forces.

Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

Strump, when you said the everything controls everything I got the idea that inter-dependance throughout all of the forces of nature is what is in control. I realise that is what you said, but wanted to highlight attention to the idea of interdependancies for thought.
What I find interesting about this is that the plant and animal kingdoms are not dependant on humans for their survival but we are dependant on them for ours. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

yes exactly.
It is all dependant on all the rest.
Pretty convenient
I find your separation of humans from animals very interesting......
