Yes people have cultivated Ps. weilii.
Surprisingly i havent seen anyone working with them recently though.
I think Workman pulled it off, and few others too.

----

We can't forget about other places for shrooms nearby the U.S.;
-Like Nova Scotia has proved to be a shroomy place
-And of course the mother of all shroom mecca, Mexico.

Mexico of course, has more shrooms than anywhere, including Ps. mexicana, and the Landslide Mushroom Ps. caerulescens..
-Ps. caerulescens is probably the closest thing there is to Ps. weilii..or vise versa..

Yeah I remeber seeing a few fruits at one point. Just wondering if any one has furthered the research.

Now is Ps. caerulescens cultivateable?

In terms of ease...  The PNW is definitely better.  Down south, a redneck with a gun guarding his land is very common.  In the northwest, hunting can be done on public land...parks, schools, discarded mulch.

In terms of "season"  the southeast easily wins... We are lucky to get a 3 month season in the PWN(minus DH's insane finds).  In the southeast,  the season can last 6 months on a good year.

I see advantages to each scene.  But to be honest.  If Gumby, Lizard King or GGreat ever came home with a pound of Cyans, they'd never go back south!!!

In my opinion October 1 thru December 31 is the best. And don't worry about frost/freezing temps... I've found that the best pickings are sometimes a couple weeks after a deep freeze.

And P. stuntzii and P. fimetaria grow all year long, as do some Panaeolus subbalteatus/.
