a new method for me but maybe an old method for others.

I recently layed two of my cuttings that have been rooted length wise on soil. One is a Khat plant and the other is a Salvia Divenorum. Now I have heard of people having trouble propagating catha edulis into nice bushes. So I though hey maybe if I take this 8 inch tall plant and train it to grown horizontaly along the soil instead of perpendicular to it that maybe I can root along its whole length. Now so far this hypothesis has proven to be true. I am in the middle of training it into a serpentine shape. ^^^^ It comes in contact with soil then gets some air, comes in contact then air and so on. Now where ever it comes in contact with the soil it shoots out roots. Now there are leaf nodes along the whole stem. So I hypthesise that within time as the new roots esateblish it will shoot of new shoots from these nodes. The whole plant can then be divided into new estbleshed cuttings or left as one and trained into a rather large bush.

I just did this with the Salvia cutting no progress has been noted.

So what do you all think?

Pretty darn good idea. The process you are following is a kind of layering, Specifically ground layering. I'm surprised there's no progress on the salvia yet, i'm sure once it starts it'll take off.
