what would happen if a girl's parents or whatever tried to pursue a statutory rape case against a guy after the girl turned 18?

One would assume the evidence would be difficult to come by (no pun intended) unless either of the involved parties opened their mouths in a confessional type action.

yeah, but if its after the girl turns 18 isn't there some sort of thing where nobody can get in trouble anymore, like if you commita certain crime there is a certain number of years that if you hide out past you can't get tried in court for it anymore.

It is called statutory because the statutes say that it is illegal to have sex(concensual or not) with an individual below a certain age. Most statutes are for 16 yrs and younger but there are some for under 18. I dont know of any that include the 18+ demographic. However, if you had sex with someone before they turned 18 and the person has sinced turned 18 then the parents could still press charges depending on what the staute of limitations for this crime are. Look up your local state laws and cross check them with federal guidelines.

But proving it is another matter entirely.

in the u.s. it varies state to state, but in my state the law is, you can have sex with 16+ with permission from the person your doing, below that however you need parental consent. i think...

not too long ago there was a guy convicted on statutory rape, he impregnated a 15yo girl and married her a few months before the birth, she had turned 16 by that time, her perents aparently had an objection to the marriage and pressed the case, in the judges notes it was stated that even though they were married it did not nullify the fact that prior to her turning the age of consent they had had sex.

Now...as for evidence... there really isnt any needed as it's not a forcable rape, a parent can have a suspicion and make all sorts of claims, regardless of a conviction or not this is the type of charge that can fuck you for some time.
