Does increasing surface area finish casings faster?

What if you had two equal ammount of myc and made one casing 1" deep, while the other 4"s deep. Would the 1 inch deep casing become exhausted of nutrients because of this increased fruiting space?

its safer to finish faster

I think it would only make it thru 2 flushes max

The reason to make Myc. more than 1 inch deep is this

After picking all the shrooms. It really tears up the myc. Actully removing the top half inch of so. After a copule of flushes you would have a mess

Been there done that

Make your myc. atleast 2 inches deep more like 3 or 4 with a 1-2 inch layer of casing.

You will get the maxium fruits.

The 4" substrate will produce larger fruits as well as more flushes.

Is that true???? I have heard tha alot

I never have made the casing layer more than 2 inches deep

Humm.............. Mabey  the next go around I will do just that go 4 inches.
Although I don't see how any more shrooms could fit in there. My casing friut like mad. Mabey bigger fruits would be fun.

I said substrate not casing layer. The casing IMO should not exceed 1/4 the depth of the substrate.
