good thread, I hope you get some good answers. I have a good amount of Phil and Friends and the dead, but anyone wanna suggest some other sites besides Archive.org and gdlive.com. I got enough dead and phil and firends and wsp to keep my ears busy for a few more months, but I need more SCI, WSP, Kimock, DSO and all that good stuff to help complete my collection.

This mp3 player still has a good 25+ gig's left on it.

Also, archive.org is a decent source if you haven't check there yet. I wish they had more mp3's or maybe I wish my creative zen supported .shn

You have to convert mp3>wav most burning programs do it automatically these days. I don't know what you use you might have to download a convert I guess, try cnet or something it should be hard to find good freeware for that.

Well did you download that program? You gotta use it to convert the shn file into a wav file, then you can burn it onto CD like normal. With my prgram, I simply drad the files into this window and they get converted.

I'm gonna go pick up a sixer. When I get back you best be listening to some Cheese from Missoula Montanee.

Yeah but you should be able to at least burn wav files onto CD and listen to them from ther CD.

Or do you use MacAmp? Download the shorten plugin from the above link and then you will be able to listen to shns off your computer.

Okay let's take this step by step. First you gotta download shorten.

http://www.hornig.net/shorten/

Now there are three versions to choose from depending on what type of Mac you have. Can you figure out which of these three you would need?

1. Carbonized for MacOS X
2. PowerMacs with MacOS 7 through 9
3. 68K Macs

Then when you figure out which one you need, please download the program and I will tell you step 2. Together we can do this Pillow.

Step 2: Open your newly downloaded Shorten software.

Okay you want to lengthen.

Now tell me this. Do you have a shn file on your computer that you downloaded. Like maybe the first track of that Cheese show I recommended? If so, choose that file to lengthen. It will then turn the shn file into a wav file. If you do this I will give you the next step.

Okay that's weird. Just for kicks, lets try to burn it onto a CD. We gotta try that before we explore other options okay? Do you have a blank CD that you don't mind wasting? I'd just open up whatever software you use to burn CDs and try to burn that track. Let me know how it goes. It should be a wav file now. Maybe it's a wav file in disguise. Burn that sucker and report back.

We're just doing it as an experiment to see if it works. Better this way than have you download 6 or 7 tracks and then finding out it doesn't work. And why do you need the band name and date and what not? Just write that info on the CD. Tell me if it works out.

Well since we went through all this, you should burn that whole show I recommended. You can still listen to in on your computer right from the burned CDs. And this way you can keep a solid copy of the the show rather than just deleting the files to make room in your hard drive and never hearing it again.

Shit you'd have to teach me how to do that stuff first. I have done it before but my friends computer suffered from my various attempt while he was away.

Assuming you have a PC, you will need MKW. It's really easy to use. Just use the program to convert the shns to wavs and burn as normal. Enjoy the show.

you could also get a plug-in winamp that would allow you to listen to the shn's without converting them. it should be on etree.org somewhere too.

crawfish asked if he needed anything to unzip it with.

i had that sci show on disc, but my brother lost it, so i'm currently downloading it.

i wish i had a cable connection here, it takes a long time for a song to download...atleast it's dsl though.

friend gave up full football scholarship over drugs?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi! I'm new here! I don't know what else to do. I have been seeing this guy for about 6 months and have watched him slowly go down hill. He has been to anger management after getting a DUI in December. He has walked off the football field after cussing the coaches and now he has given up his full scholarship to play football. He left this summer in the middle of the night, without telling anyone. I was out of town. He packed up and went home. I have been trying and trying to find out why?? the more I pursue, the more he distances!! I just saw him last weekend. The first time in 6 weeks. HE LOOKED AWFUL! His eyes were bloodshot, pupils dilated, looked like he hadn't had a bath in months, stunk like sweat and smelled like marijuana. I couldn't believe it. I was scared to say anything so I didnt. We visited, had great sex and he left me saying he had some business to take care of. I think he may be dealing also!! I'm soo confused!! I can't gey any answers out of him and when I told him over the phone this week I knew about his addiction, he blew up at me and talked to me like I was a dog! I pray he does not mean what he said!! He says he used me for sex!! He just tells me he luvs me to get it. I told him that when you have slept with someone over a dozen times that that's not using someone for sex. I live in Louisiana and he lives in Texas. Why call me and text message me weekly if he does not really care for me? He could just get it from some girl there? I told him he needed help and not to call anymore when he was high! He is in denial sooo bad and will not talk to me, says he doesn't care about our friendship? Does he really feel this way? I need to know for me! I know he is doing marijuana but cant figure out what else? He sleeps all day and stays out all night! He is definately not the same person I new before! I'm scared he might do something to hurt himself and am seeking advice on how to deal with this!! He lies all the time does not see that he has a problem! Please help! Any advice will be appreciated!
