Saints Preserved
    #3019204 - 08/18/04 05:57 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

A History Channel documentary on Catholic saints who show realtively little decomposition over hundreds of years, has pointed to - voila! - the logical, scientific explanation rather than the miraculous idea that God preserved them because of their extraordinary "goodness".

All of the saints examined were mummified. Will this stop "The Faithful" from praying to these corpses or changing their minds about these saints? Hell no!

Once again though, another myth falls to rationality.

It would serve no purpose for god to preserve those pieces of shit in the first place... at least none i could think of

Perhaps you have not read this relevant Bible quote: "Ashes to ashes and dust to dust; unless you have served the sick and the poor, in which case after you die I will let your nose, eyes, brain and internal organs rot, but will preserve your skin, bones and muscles in a stone-like state as a reward for your lifetime of good deeds."

Swami! That quote from the bible was extra delicious. If we do good deeds, only our nose eyes, brains and internal organs will rot, but our bones, muscles and skin will be preserved after we bite it. Now there is some incentive to do good deeds! How gracious of God to reward us with useless mumification. Throw me to the sharks!

I think that it is synchronicity. The saints just so happened to be mummified and God preserved them.

G*d preserved them by mummification, of course
